Hydrophytes
Roots normally have the functions of both obtaining water and nutrients for the plant from the ground that is distributed throughout the plant by transpiration and capillary action and for providing support and anchorage but hydrophytic roots only provide anchorage to the plant as the plant can absorb water and nutrients directly from the surrounding environment.
